Stay hungry, stay foolish
Steve jobs was an incredible inspired person who created technology that transformed the world. There was a world before him and there is a world nowadays.
Unfortunately he left us very soon, dead by a pancrea's agressive and rare type of cancer. But his story and his message teaches us a very interesting way to face life.
In a speech for graduated students from an american university he speaks about his life and experiences, telling three stories.
The first one gets around the beginning of his life, telling the story of how his biological parents decided put him for adoption for thinking that weren’t prepared for create him cause they weren’t graduated at any university.
However, the couple that decided to create him also weren’t graduated, but they made the promisse that when came the time, Steve would go to college.
And this happened. Steve entered in the college when he was 17 years old, and started his studies. But he wasn't feeling not happy and satisfied, so he decided leave the university after six months. For him, he wasn't learning anything important and that he could ever use.
After leave the school and go by a unknown way, he told that his life became very difficult. He had to sleep in friend's leaving rooms and walk almost the whole city to eat a cheap food.
But, after so many years he says that when he looks back he feels that this moment of difficult was essential for his future, because in one of this walks he looked for a advertisement of a calligraphy course and felt interested in it.
That subject wasn’t necessary or helpful for him under any circumstance, but he studied it anyway.
He tolds, in his speech, that he just saw the necessity of that kind of knowledge when he was working in a huge project of informatic and could use different kind of fonts. This small attitude influenced the life of hundred of million people, but he just could connect the dots after that.
The second history that he told was about love and lost.
He told that discovered what he really loves to do early and was lucky by this. So he started to work on and after just two years the company that was created by him was evaluated in 2 billion dollars.
But with the success came the first big deception. The directors of his company decided take him off motivated by some divergences. He saw himself out of his own company just when he started to make success.
He wanted to leave the Silicon valley, where the most important informatic companies are. He felt shame. But instead to do it, he decided reopen, and created two companies, called "next" and "pixar".
His success was so huge that his first company decided to buy “pixar” and then he back to "apple". He saw everything that happened was essential to him, even the things he didn’t would like had happened.
And, at last, the third history was about death.
Some months before his speech, he was diagnosed with cancer. A rare and aggressive type, and the doctors told him that his time was very short. This event made him meditate how death is important to our lives.
Death is a thing that nobody wants to. Even the christians, who believe in a wonderful heaven, don’t want to go to there so early. But nevertheless nobody ever escaped it.
Imagine that you gonna died is the best way to not live a life that you don’t want to. It is the best way of escape the trap that you can postpone do what you really want to.
In conclusion, Steve’s speech warn us that we have a limited time in this world. We can’t put off to do what is our passion.
We can’t let the things that people think about us occupy the time that we should use to fight for what we believe. We need be moved by our dreams and live a meaningful and wider life.
